So i've finally gotten my first gaming pc, always used mac for music production and what have you. now i know ill catch some flak for this but can some one please explain to me what the extra wires ( yellow ones) connected to the cpu fan are for, as well as the two wires coming off the GPU. As I said i'm a complete beginner to all of this so any information would be helpful thank you

The extra 4 pins from the CPU power cable are from an 8 pin EPS/CPU power cable that is split into a 4+4 configuration. It allows you to use the cable for an 8pin connect and 4pin connector easily.

Similar thing with the PCIe cables in the GPU. They're in a 6+2 configuration to allow a single cable to be used in either a 6pin or an 8pin PCIe connector.

It is power connectors. Looks like some of them are excess wires that aren't connected, but those which are connected is as said power connectors.

Am i able to connect another fan with them, if my power supply allows it, probably a dumb question and sorry for that but. as i said i am completely lost.. Guess what these forums are for

No. Good rule of thumb with PC building is that if something doesn't physically fit, don't even try. Fans use 3pin and 4pin headers looking like this:

Or you can connect directly to PSU, either with similar header or with molex:

You can see how CPU fan is connected. If you tell motherboards model, we can help more. Its Asus something. You can use software like Speccy to check model if it wasn't in spec sheet for the build.
