Hackintosh Componenets

So im thinking of building a hackintosh for my sister but im just trying it out myself first before I build her one this Christmas so she can switch of her crappy macbook pro (atleast at home) and use something more powerful. But the small problem is I have no idea how to do this. I've watched my friend install mac os on a hackintosh and if necessary i can just ask him to come over and do it for me, but I dont even know what hardware is compatible. If someone could part out a build that would be really helpful. I want something in the 300-400 dollar range that I can pick up all the parts for brand new (because all ive seen used are like 1st gen intel chips) which could hopefully have more than 4 cores and 4 threads. If I could overclock that would be nice too. If you cant give me a part list or what's supported, could yall maybe tell me where to look? Super confused right now on what is actually supported.

Thanks so much!

Sorry but as per the Forum's CS and Apple's TOS aiding in creating or troubleshooting Hackintosh systems isn't allowed.

  • Talking about piracy in general, broad details, is acceptable however the posting or discussing pirated/hacked/cracked or otherwise nefariously obtained content is not. This includes Windows content, games, hackintosh, etc. Also discussions regarding ways to avoid or block legitimately installed monitoring/tracking software or the like is also not allowed.
