SSHD as a laptops HDD replacement?

Hello, are SSHDs still relevant in 2018? I saw some 2tb 2m5" drives on Amazon for under 100 bucks and was wondering if it would provide better performance than the HDD that is in there. I have an NVME boot drive already, and 1tb SSDs are out of my price range. So is it worth it?

No. SSHD's are only good if you have a regular HDD for a boot drive. There's typically only a couple GB of cache on an SSHD, which makes them faster than a standard HDD for things like booting or apps that you constantly use on a daily basis that isn't on your NVMe, but for mass storage, just go with a regular HDD.
