Hi,

i just bought a hyperx fury 8GB ddr3 ram blue and wanted to use it in my pc. I am using a Ga z97 hd3 motherboard. before that i was using 2 4gb ram. I was kinda hoping that i could use both those 2 and the single 8gb one but when i put the ram in the motherboard the pc does not start up. Does anyone know if it is possible and how i can fix this or do i have to buy another 8gb ram ?

thanks for the help

First off, you have to figure out if the ram is causing a boot error by doing as Granular said. I'd pull the 8gig'er out and see if it POSTs just to make sure you didn't do anything to the system that might have caused it to not boot when you installed it. If it POSTs, then you can start playing musical chairs with the ram modules. If you have set any manual settings for your ram, you might want to set it back to auto until you get it to POST with all 3 sticks.

Second...

Third, your board has two dual channel banks for a total of 4 slots. You don't have to enable or disable dual channel because it will do it for you. AFAIK, with your board, each bank can be single or dual independently of the other. Just make sure you put the 2x4gb kit in on bank and the 8gb stick in the other. Oh and I have to say, mixing ram like this will slow it down.

So i made it work somehow. I tested the 8gb card on both slots alone both worked when i put the 8gb on the slot where the 2 4gb were before were and the 2 4gb on the 8gb slot then it suddenly worked. Now the 8gb one is in slot 4 and the other 2 in 3 and 1. when it was 4-2 and 1 before.
