Honestly, if you can hunt for something decent from the 1980s, it might be a better idea than going brand new.

If you go that route though, you'll likely need a preamp, which many modern record players have in by default.

You don't have to buy a brand new one.
they cost WAY too much money for not much of a better sound tbh. (a decent new one starts at roughly 200$usd  if you don't want some cheap crap.)

I got myself an old Technics turntable that was missing its head and the strap.
cost me 45$ cad total and sounds AMAZING.

if you buy old. you will probably need a new needle (though they are fairly cheap depending on what you get) and maybe a new strap (since the OG one is probably dried out and crusty af)
