200$ Storage Solution

Hello, I'm looking for a storage solution for all my families digital photos.

Currently they are all on sketchy external hard drives and a really old "Personal Cloud" that takes hours to show up when plugged in. I'm wondering how hard would it be to get them on a NAS or something of that nature. Whats the best way to set up a storage device to store about 0.5 tb of extremely important pictures? Id like it to stay around 200$USD but if more is required for an optimal solution that's fine. I'm new here so please be specific with your answers.

buy a bunch of 1tb external hdd's , backup everything to one of them , clone it to the others , then store them all in different locations. one at home / at work / relatives house / bank box

that should make for a very redundant backup

one thing i would avoid is spending 200$ on a single storage device in a single location. sure it might be more elegant but it wont be as redundant and fireproof

Just get some 2TB Barracudas and clone the data to them, then store one in the house and one in a bank safe deposit or something

You could get a WD MyBook Duo, its an external enclosure with 2 disks that comes preconfigured in RAID-1 (mirror).

Or you could get one of these, and 2 disks you can afford: https://www.amazon.com/Synology-bay-DiskStation-DS218j-Diskless/dp/B076G6YKWZ

If my house burns down, thats the least of my worries. Also i can access my files whenever i want whereever i want without any dongles. If i need more storage, i order some drives off amazon. If someone decideds to upload something, it instantly syncs with everyone elso. I would avoid spending money on a house, just buy a metal tent, its more fireproof.
