Rival 600 doesn't work

it's still in warranty but before I take it back I want to make sure it's defective

so I installed the steelseries engine 3 and it does not detect my mouse, followed the instructions and plugged it in the back usb ports, tried them all and it does not turn on. there is no setup video on their site for the 600, but I watched the 310 and 700 vids and they both turn on to indicate it's powered on. totally stumped here
