Hi there, Currently trying to install Win7 64 on a couple of new builds for my step-brothers. On of them is coming up with the above title, Disk boot Failure Insert System disk. The SATA controller is set to Native IDE mode and it is displaying 2 devices, 1 Being the HDD. the other being an unknown device which i can only assume is the Liteon Dvd/rw I have installed in it.

All components are brand new. Motherboard is a Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P.

I'm no wizz with any Bios system i just know the basics to keep me going; I've tried changed the boot order to "CD-ROM" as the bios doesnt have a direct order of what's installed. I've tried loading direct from the boot menu by pressing F10. And i've tried changed the SATA Controller to ACHI in the vague hope that would work but to no avail. Does this require drivers for the Disk drive with it being a basic Mobo. Would it be a best bet to install via a USB2 Diskdrive?

Halp

Cheers! :)

The hell do you have it in IDE for? Try unplugging the cd drive and see if it instead says there's no bootable media or something along those lines. If that does happen then I think your cd drive isn't going to work until you can update the firmware for it in Windows so just install Windows off a USB drive. Usually always works for me.

the IDE part doesn't matter, i have a win 7 pc with a IDE 240gb drive and optical drive. My brand new system (below) has a optical drive that's IDE, I use a optical drive like 2 times a month so i didn't see the reason to spend $30 and get a sata drive, besides i had 6 IDE optical drives at home. What im getting at is that the whole IDE part doesn't matter...

Yeah it does because the board doesn't have any IDE connections on it.
