I am building my first ever PC. I've got everything assembled, but my case (CoolerMaster MasterCase MC500M) has these two cables (see picture) coming from the front I/O. I checked the manual, but there is no description of the cables coming from the front I/O. What are these for and do I need to connect them somewhere?

Also- My MOBO (EVGA Z370 FTW) has 10 locations for standoffs, but the case came with only 9. I decided to leave off the standoff on the center right side, just beneath the 24-pin connector. Will this cause any issues down the line?

Thank you!

the left is a molex (to provide power) and the right is a SATA (maybe RGB control?). One goes to the molex connector from the PSU, one goes to a SATA port on the motherboard

Thanks for the quick response! I found the molex cable from my PSU and got that connected.

The one on the right looks like SATA, but it doesn't fit in a SATA port. It has an H shape instead of an L shape. This case has RGB control, so that could be what its for, but I'm not sure where to connect it.

The small cable is a data cable for USB 3.1 .
Edit: Your motherboard doesn't have a 3.1 so you can either put it to one side, or buy a converter.
The standoff is not a problem.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Thanks for the help!

I booted up and got into the BIOS. I noticed that my 3000 MHz RAM was running at 2133, so I bumped it to 2666 (which is the highest supported by my i5-8600K). Now my monitor gets no signal and my MOBO is stuck cycling through POST codes. How do I reset the RAM speed?

Update: My MOBO has dual BIOS, so I switched to the other one and got everything booted up. I'll do a bit more research before poking around in there again.

Everything is working except the 3.1 USB-C on the front I/O, so I think that the other cable is in fact USB 3.1. Both of the internal USB 3.0 ports on my MOBO are already occupied, but could I get a splitter for one of the ports and connect two USB cables to it? Could both lines communicate with the MOBO at the same time?
