I'm building a pc for light use (office work, web browsing ,printing, ect) and I need a small enough case with a drive bay and spaces for 2-3 hard drive and an ssd. I was wondering if this build would be enough power and reliability for at least 4 years. Thanks for the advice ;)

This seems to be at your price point. Do you already have the HDD's?

Its reliable and will last you for long for sure but did you consider AMD's A8 or A10 APU's? Because they are generally equal or cheaper in price together with the platform and do have OpenCL acceleration for office tasks like Exel and such.

But hey it's overall a good choice to get  ;)

Watch out, there might be ninjas out there

What you want to do is replace that core i3 with something better. Get the cheapest i7 is the best choice in my opinion since i7 is very optimized for browsing, typing, multitasking ... Make sure you have got graphics on the chip though.

An i7 is honestly really overkill for Office and web browsing. I built a PC for my dad with a Pentium G860 and it breezes through everything he does, and using Excel is pretty much his entire job.

Why the fuck would you  get an i7 and a GPU for EMAIL?!

That's just a terrible suggestion. For what he wants to do he'd be better off going with an AMD build. It will work just as good as any i7 build for a lower price

I do, I allready have a prodigy M for my own build and was looking to try the normal one for the storage space but there are no itx fm2 or 3+ thus the intel chipset.

Sorry bro but the title clearly says "Home pc" this means he could want to use something like Photoshop or maybe render some videos. And I said, make sure there are built in graphics so that you don't need a GPU. And he did not mention any budget so this was my suggestion if he was going to multi-task.

Sure. I just feel like he won't need "AMD mantle" and he is probably better of going with an i7 because it has better build quality and usually last's longer.

Email, printing, word docs and other stuff like that compared to photoshop are in two entirely different leagues.

Dude there is literally no point in going for an i7 in this case. I get where your coming from but he would be just a good off for a i5....

If you look on his profile you'll find he's 12. I think this goes some way to explain it. ie family buying him computer parts and him not fully understanding what they do etc....

No he's not. In the case for his build, he is much better off with a good AMD FX processor. You could get a good FX 6 core for half the price of a i7 and it will perform just as good. As it happens that's what I use it it works great in PS. You're just going for overkill with an i7 if you're not gaming on it or doing heavy rendering

Even gaming on an i7 is overkill, Games just dont benefit from hyperthreading yet, In the future certainly, but really there is not much difference, especially at the price gap between i5 and i7.

No at all! do you have more options with an 5.25 inch bay and multiple 3.5inch drive bays and smaller than the prodigy?

How many 3.5" bays do you need?

What are the equivelant graphics out of it? Intel hd 4000?

I'm not actually sure what integrated graphics the chip has but it should be more than you need.
