Hello,

I currently have a i7 6700k (2 years old) with 1060 gtx and i plan to upgrade my video card when 1100 series release.

Now my question is: is it recommended to upgrade my 2 year old i7 6700k to a new cpu for when the 1100 series release? or will i just be fine with my current cpu and for how long may that be?

Thanx in advance

Regards d

ur fine for a another year or so

So if i wanted to upgrade my CPU with i7 8700k for example i wouldn't have to upgrade my mobo because its the same socket? also is it recommend to upgrade the mobo if i would upgrade my cpu now?

Different chipset with same socket. Requires a new board. Though I have heard tell that there have been limited successes with custom BIOS on some prior gen boards achieving limited success with the 8000 series processors. not recommended at all. even if you have a dual bios board.

8700k requires a 300 series chipset.

If the 1060 is good enough for now, and the new GPU is just in the nice to have area then I'd suggest waiting until the new GPU lineup hits the market, and then make your decision as you will in all likelihood be able to get more performance at a lower price point then... however the GPU market could go thermal nuclear in the meantime and, but I doubt it.
