imac 2017 vs custom pc

Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

Which one are you more comfortable with? That will play a huge part in which one's better. If you're significantly faster in Premier, for example, the fact that Final Cut is faster at rendering is irrelevant. I haven't seen any recent reviews, but I remember Final Cut being significantly faster. I'd just get the 27" machine and save a little longer. It's a tax write off anyway.

Can you upgrade the iMacs? Their pricing on 1TB SSD's is absolutely insane.

i am going to start my wedding video editing business and i used both fcpx and adobe premiere pro both are suitable for me, but i got stuck between purchasing 21 inch imac 2017 or custom pc of same price($1700)

well i know that i can get better performance in pc with more good spec at the same price but on the other hand imac has great optimization with fcpx which help me in video editing and at the end that matter the most so please help me in getting best option.

i want a comparison between fcpx in 21 inch imac 2017(4gb graphics) and premiere pro in custom pc at 1700$

You could build a Hackint<COMMUNITY STANDARDS FRIENDLY CONTENT>. Snazzy Labs have built several that have better performance than systems Apple offered. At the end of the day, if you want to use FCPX, then the route you choice depends on whether or not you'll willing to put in the time to make it work.

To be honest, I wouldn't even touch a 21' iMac, You'd struggle to edit on a 21" screen unless you  have a second monitor

If you want to go with Apple, go for a slightly older 27", or even do what I did and get an old Mac Pro and upgrade it for a lot less.

Laptop:

Spoiler

HP OMEN 15 - Intel Core i7 9750H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, Nvidia RTX 2060, 15.6" 1080p 144Hz IPS display

PC:

Spoiler

Vacancy - Looking for applicants, please send CV

Mac:

Spoiler

2009 Mac Pro 8 Core - 2 x Xeon E5520, 16GB DDR3 1333 ECC, 120GB SATA SSD, AMD Radeon 7850. Soon to be upgraded to 2 x 6 Core Xeons

Phones:

Spoiler

LG G6 - Platinum (The best colour of any phone, period)

LG G7 - Moroccan Blue
