Question about RCS (Android Messages)

Phil9943

So I watched the recent techquickie on RCS and convinced my family (all android) to switch over to Android messenger. We all use a VMNO that uses T-Mobile's network, and T-mobile recently began to roll out RCS (right? https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/29/17519422/tmobile-texting-rcs-universal-rollout-starting-samsung-s7). However, all of our messages are still sent in SMS format, even though we are messaging each other in the RCS Android Messenger client, and we are all using T-Mobile. Are there any settings that I might have missed?

Please help me my fellow Android brethren

It's not fully implemented yet.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Oneplus 6 (Early 2023 to present) | HP Envy 15" x360 R7 5700U (Mid 2021 to present) | Steam Deck (Late 2022 to present)

My whole family uses galaxy s7's and the article says that they've enabled it for S7 devices, shouldn't it work for us? We all have the international model, so maybe it has something to do with that idk

I believe the Android Messages app has yet to be updated with support.

Are you sure? Every article that I see discussing the new RCS protocol points to the Android Messages app, are you sure that RCS hasn't been implemented into Google's flagship client for the platform, even while they're currently trying to get more carriers on board?

Actually, this article says that it's already come to Android Messages. My guess is that my VMNO (Mint Sim) hasn't implemented it yet, even though Mint Sim runs on a network (T-mobile) that has enabled RCS on my device.
