Broken pin (not socket)

so I bought an Asus Z370-f board for $80, and I finally found out why. one of the pins on the RGB headder is broken. anyone have a way to fix it?

How is it broken? Got any photos of the damage? A header pin should be relatively easy to replace.

just the rgb header? if you don't need it i wouldn't mess with it. 

 

you could in theory solder another header on but there's a big risk of messing up and breaking it.

well. I need the extra 15 fps. but In all seriousness, I think because it's under warranty I will ask Asus but I'm pretty good a soldering and it's not surface mount.

You can try soldering a new RGB header on there.

That said, motherboards are multi-layer PCBs, so it might not be easy -- specially if it's directly connected to the copper ground layer.

ok. I feel really bad, but upon closer inspection, the one with 3 pins is for ADDRESSABLE RGB strips. sorry.

As said it wouldn't be overly difficult to desolder it and replace it with a new header as they're ubiquitous online.

thanks anyway, I guess I DID get a good deal at micro center.
