It really depends on what you intend to use it for. A 1060 is considered the sweet spot for 1080p60 gaming so I wouldn't bother if you're gaming with a standard 1080p monitor. If you want to run on a 144hz monitor or at a higher resolution, you may see a tangible benefit from the 1070ti.

I wouldn't go from the 1060 to the 1070. even though there's a decent jump in graphics performance, the cost to obtain it is extremely high. If you're hell bent on spending that kind of money for better resolution or a higher refresh rate, you may as well spend the extra $40 or so and get double the performance gain, relative to the 1060.

Ok thanks I do plan on upgrading to a 1440p monitor and 120Hz so with what you said I will consider a 1070ti. Does that sound about right?

If you don't already have that monitor, I wouldn't bother upgrading the GPU just yet. In general, I would never recommend upgrading hardware before you can actually take advantage of the performance benefit.

By the time you get your monitor, there may be other options out there for you.

By the time you'll be probably upgrading to a 1170 or a 1080 and get them for less then what you would pay now. so yes I totaly agree with what Fullmental said, upgrade whenever you can benefit of it and not before. But ofc it also depense on what you get now, how often you use your system and what your budget is.

Regards
