I'm a big fan of Seagates, but I've used WD with great success as well

I would go WD and avoid Seagate. Seagate has been having a higher failure rate lately, and here in my office seagate drives of the same age as WD ones are failing way sooner.

I do agree with this tho, always have at least 1 backup of all your important data.

Yes but that is just coincidence. If you ran a much larger scale survey, I think you'd find it would be equal failure rate.

Can you find a Seagate drive that's 40 bucks on the dot? I would guess you can't in which case wd blue is currently cheaper than the Seagate 1tb.
