PC Restarts When Installing Windows

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

Mobo: Asrock x370 Pro4

Ram: Geil Evo Potenza 2 x 4gb 2400 mhz

Storage: WD Blue 1 TB

GPU: EVGA GTX 980 FTW

PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550w

 

Everything had worked fine until I tried to do cable management and close my case. A while before my pc would turn on, but the monitor said that there was no signal. After unplugging everything and replugging them, I got it to work, but when I installed windows 10 it randomly shuts halfway.

It's something crimped, bent, or losing connection when you close the panel? How tight is the cable space?

 

Also pictures might help if you have a chance.

I put up the photos. If something were broken, I doubt it would turn on at all.

It sounds like something got shorted. I had this problem on a computer once because the SATA cable was shorting on the case (back side) panel. I assume from the pictures you are doing this with the case panel off.

550W is more than enough to run that system. You could even get away with 500W. Check out my system below and I don't have any problems.

 

Anyway, the system would be under mostly idle when trying to install windows, the GPU would be idle and the CPU would only have a small load on it.

Does it restart without you telling it to if you just stay in the UEFI?

 

It must be under load that it restarts.

 

You could try to install Linux and see if it restarts when doing that.

 

How long after you begin to install Windows does it restart abrubtly?

Now it much more stable. It usually stop the windows installation exactly halfway. It says nothing before randomly shutting down. I'll try switching the SATA cable.

I switched the cable and it worked. I downloaded windows and now I am almost done. However, I can't overclock my CPU and it says I have 8gb of RAM, but only 3.93 is available.

That means you have installed a 32 bit operating system. Type "system" into windows search to check. Not system information though. It should open control panel. Does it say 64 or 32 bit under system type.

Umm... guys? Doesnt windows restart when installing? Is your pc turning OFF?
