My mic is the Neewer NW-700 plugged into my motherboard. I use this to record gaming videos, to live stream and to do the odd voice over.

But it picks up a lot of background noise, my PC fans, the birds outside things like that. I dont mind my keyboard being heard in gaming videos, i actually quite like it. But its the hum and hush thats always there. Changing noise suppression makes it sound pixelated and about a million times worse. and without at least plus 10 decibels the mic is way too quiet for some reason. I tried a USB sound card, but that seemed to make it worse aswell. It caused serious issues with Resolve when editing videos and made the audio pop for no reason so i binned it.

Is it just a case of buy a better mic...again. Or is there something else i can try?

It sits on a scissor arm in a shock mount and comes down from my left and sits in front of me, about a foot or so from my mouth and just infront of my keyboard. I use a pop filter almost all the time for gaming videos and streaming.

Mic level is at 100, decibels are at at least 10-20 and everything else is left un touched.

My mic does have XLR, it plugs into the phantom power supply thingie with it. So i would need an XLR dac type thing to...USB or audio jack?

Is this the sort of thing i need?
