Second hand PC worth it?

Go to solution Solved by SteveGrabowski0,

That's a steal for $600 for a system 7-8 months old. It almost sounds too good to be true, as an equivalent system built today will set you back more than $1100.

Thank you for the quick reply...

All else I want to know... What would you recommend to upgrade in the future?

How long before this is necessary...

My only fear is the CPU

A ssd would be my first upgrade, cpu should last you for awhile if all you’re doing is gaming

Well other than light content creation and some programming not much...

My main dream is to add my old laptop HDD (upgraded  3 years ago to 2tb) and then somehow keep that and a TB partition synced with all my projects (and maybe saved game data)

I think the only need for SSD might be boot times...

An SSD is nice for loading into games more quickly. It's not a must have by any means and I think they're extremely overrated when people recommend buying them over putting more money into your gpu or cpu, but they're a nice luxury if you have some extra cash.

Thank you for your help...

And in such a short time...

I would like some extra storage... Maybe I will add like a 4TB media drive down the line... All depends on what would be a bigger issue...

When the cheapest SSDs available from $18.66 and up it's somewhat insane to not include one in a build, especially because it nearly never requires sacrificing a tier on GPU, and rarely on CPU. $30 bucks doesn't even cover the whole price gap between the cheapest 1060 3GB and the cheapest 1060 6GB which is currently $40.

From PC Parts picker the best benching SSD listed inside that range is the ADATA ASU800SS-128GT-C at $36.99 which is close to the top 1/3rd of SSDs in the market.

Even the $18.66 SSDs paltry 40GB worth of storage is enough to Operating System and Page File. The largest performance increase of it would definitely be the page file which would affect responsiveness even outside of OS and application load times.

For high end systems with copious quantities of ram you'll generally be foregoing even using a page file in favor of everything on your RAM as that will in most every case increase performance. For whatever reason some applications actually are coded to prefer page filing over use of active memory which might actually cause a performance decrease.

Do you think, that adding either 1 or 2 16GB sticks alongside the existing sticks would cause problems?

Does have daul chanel memory support...

Andwhat will be the best way of inserting them?
