Hey guys! I recently bought a Asus Zenbook U430UA! great laptop, but recently my CPU has been acting weird! So my CPU's base clock is 1.60 Ghz to 1.8Ghz. I never seen it cross 1.80Ghz, but today I realized my laptop was running hot on simple tasks, then I decided to check on my CPU and its running at 4.0Ghz!!! And the ultra-book fans can't cool it down fast enough. Is there any solution for this?? I am so confused, I research about it, but couldn't find anything, this is possible my last hope.

Intel turbo boost is kicking in. It'll self OC if the cooler can handle it.

Some laptops disable it when on battery though.

Nothing to worry about. If it gets too hot, it'll downclock itself again.

My CPU is i5 8550u, with Base clock of 1.60 to 1.80 Ghz. Before it was limited between those two clocks, but recently it went up to 3.83Ghz and no matter what, it does not move from that. Even when the fans are going nuts, it stays at 3.83Ghz. Is there any way I can stop it form self OC.

That model laptop was showing i7-7500 on the Asus website.  If it is a newer model with the 8550u, then its fine.

Look in the BIOS for CPU settings, see if you can turn off turbo boost.

If the fans aren't disturbing, then its not something you need be concerned about though. The fans ramping up is enough to keep the chip cool when boosting.

The issue here is not your CPU using its boost frequency, because that is what it is designed to do. But if it is boosting up all the time, even when your laptop is supposed to be idling, then there is something else wrong. You may have a rough program or some malware running that is consuming resources. Disabling Turbo Boost in BIOS doesn't fix the underlying problem. It just cripples the performance of your computer.

Check Task Manager to see what's going on. If there is 0% CPU load, your CPU should be at its base frequency or even downclock to under 1Ghz.
