Sony Vaio E17 i5 to i7 upgrade

My VAIO has 35W i5 3230M and want to upgrade to 35W i7 3632QM.

I think that generally there is no Laptop CPU microcodes available... but socket is upgradable / not soldered.

If someone ever upgraded SONY VAIO E17 / E15 / E13 laptop to any other CPU please let me know...

Maybe there is no need of new microcodes and they are built in but as the i7 CPU is expensive, I need more information first.

I do not need any other information, comment only if you experienced VAIO (or any) laptop CPU upgrade.

and just for the info: This VAIO had two models in shop, i5 and i7 and there is not CPU support information for this models. Generally laptops CPU support isn't available. Most time at least.

I have done this on a few other models of laptops. As long as you are not switching to another Architecture/Lithography you will be fine since the i5 and i7 Model most likely share the same Mobo and therefore also the same BIOS.

I upgraded the i3 2310M (35W) to an i7 2720QM (45W) in my Sony VAIO VPCEH1L8E around 10 months ago. It has worked without issue ever since. One issue could be the different CPU stepping but I could not say whether that would make a difference for you. Do you know if and which i7 the E series was originally shipped with? To find the information you need I would suggest hitting up as many tech forums/chats as possible and scouring through any web results you may find of people who have performed a similar upgrade.

May be of use to you if you didn't already have the information.
