In a couple of months im going to be studying abroad so i'll be traveling around alot. I've decided on doing a pc build that is easily portable. So far the parts are these.

CPU:
Ryzen 3 2200G
Motherboard:
Asrock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming ITX/ac OR Gigabyte GA-AB350N Gaming Wifi ITX
Case:
Fractal Design Node 202
PSU:
Corsair SF600 or Corsair SF450
Storage:
Sandisk SSD Plus 240gb
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
GPU:
GALAX EXOC WHITE 1060 6GB
RAM: ?

My Concerns:

  1. Both motherboards prices are nearly identical. I wanted the asrock motherboard but there is only a total of 5 USB ports as oppose to the gigabyte one that has 8. Regarding the wifi, which of the 2 motherboard has better wifi? and i see the audio ports is a bit different.
  2. For the PSU should i get the SF600 or SF450? I'm on a tight budget so the latter would be good for me but im worried if ill need more power down the road. the price for the SF600 is around 30$ more
  3. Storage for now i'll be using the sata drives until i can save up enogh money for an m.2 ssd
  4. Will the stock fans from the Ryzen 3 be able to fit with the fractal design node 202?
  5. I'm still thinking on which ram to choose. What is the cheapest RAM on the market now? my current PC is using those Kingston Value Ram

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and opinions :D

1) I'd think that the wifi for the two motherboards are going to be nearly identical. Gigabyte's website mentions Bluetooth, but I'm unsure if that's an addon. In regards to the audio ports being different - yet again, that shouldn't really affect you (As you could use the front IO). You may need to update the BIOSs for these motherboards - so keep that in mind.

2) You shouldn't need the extra wattage from the SF600 - the SF450 should do you fine.

3) There's not much of a reason to buy M.2 except for the size. If you're looking for faster speeds - in most cases, it wouldn't noticeably speed anything up.

4) The Wraith Spire, the cooler bundled with the 2200G, is +70mm tall. The Node 202 has compatibility with coolers less than 56mm

5)  PCPartpicker (But it also depends on how much you're getting - use the filter on the left)

Why are you going for the Node 202 specifically? What are you looking for when you're getting a SFF Case?

Get the R3 1200 or 1300X for the soldered IHS if you aren't going to be using the iGPU on the 2200G. Or were you going to buy the GPU way later?

Otherwise why not just get a laptop?

And always get the higher wattage SFW PSU.

The Node is a bit limiting IMO, Just grab like an Elite 110, or Core 500 if it fits.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

  1. The motherboards use the same WiFi module that supports dual band a/b/g/n/ac and multiple Bluetooth levels.
  2. The 450W psu is more than enough. Given the limited expansion options of mini-ITX one has to work at needing much more.
  3. Save up for a larger ssd instead.
  4. I believe so. The Wraith Stealth cooler is reportedly around 53.5 mm tall.
  5. Memory prices change frequently. Hourly in some markets. "Value" memory is often not the least expensive and is not usually a good choice. Ryzen cpu do better with faster memory, DDR4-2666 - DDR4-3200.

both support bluetooth right?

Oh so the i need to buy another cooler for the node 202? Any recommendations?

I've already used pcpartpicker but the pricing isn't really the same as the pricing in my area so i just wanted to know your selection on a "budget ram"

So that i could put it in my backpack and carry it inside the plane. I saw a video on BitWit where he uses this case and put it on his small luggage/backpack. I want that kind of setup where i dont need to put it on the cargo of an airplane everytime i go to college and back home.

Is the R3 1200 same as 2200G? i went for the 2nd gen ryzen because its only 10$ more than the 1st generations

I want to try to stay away with laptops as their pricey and cant be upgraded or customize.

Limiting in which category? I went for this case because it could fit on a big backpack so that i could carry it on the airplane without putting it in the cargo

Is the cooler Wraith Spire or Stealth and wil it really fit on the case?

So i should get a minimum of DDR4 that is 2666?

You could go for the Silverstone RVZ03 and avoid clearance issues. It's a bit bigger and has room for cpu coolers up to 83mm.

Thank you so much. I will check on it and see if i wanna change the case or not

Feel free to give me other recommendations on the case. I just want it to be small and compact so that i can put it in my backpack. So far the Silverstone RVZ03 and Fractal Design Node 202 seems able to fit in my backpack. If there is other better case then feel free to tell me :)

Like a Core 500 case is still pretty small and supports 240mm AIOs as well as ATX PSUs

The CPUs are the same overall performance wise, but the R3 1200 is soldered and runs cooler because of it vs the APU which uses TIM for the iHS. So if you don't need the integrated graphics that might be useful in the ITX system.

Well, it's up to you how much you're willing to spend. There are tiny boutique cases out there that are potentially half the size of those two cases. You might have to invest in low profile after market coolers and potentially in external PSU bricks (when going really SFF). The DanCases A4-SFX is only 7.2l big and supports 48mm coolers (or 92mm AiO coolers – they're rare). The case comes at a premium at ~ $250. The NCase M1 is a bit cheaper and at around 12.6l about as large as the Silverstone or Fractal cases yet it's probably the most compatible case cooling wise. CPU coolers are supported up to 130mm in height or upt to 240mm radiators (preferably AiO). At ~ $200 it isn't particularly cheap either. At the same price point you can get a NFC Skyreach 4 Mini (5l). You will need an external PSU though and your cpu cooler is limited to 45mm (like Noctua's LH9i).

... :)

See botom of https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/cpu-cooler-solution for cpu and corresponding stock cooler Ryzen 2 2200G uses Wraith Stealth.

Yes, try to find a kit that is CL 14.
