Problems with HDD

I recently finished assembling a pc (fx-6300, msi 970a gaming pro carbon, weird cheap offbrand gtx 960, seagate 2tb barracude, older pny 240gig ssd, evga 500w psu, 8 gigs crucial balistix ram) the gpu is the last component I got (and yes I started when the 6300 was still semi-relative in amd systems) but I had a friend come over with his gtx 960 so I could install some games before my graphics card came, so they would be ready to go once my graphics card got here, I wound up accidentally installing all of the games on my ssd instead of my hdd, but they ran just fine while he was here with his card, I then recognized the issues and put some more games on hdd while he was here but didnt have a chance to test them on his graphics card. When mine got here, I plugged it in, updated some drivers, but suddenly my steam library wasnt working, nothing on the ssd really was (except windows itself) and any games on the hard drive crashed while loading. I then uninstalled steam, reinstalled it to hdd and then no games worked on any drive, they all crashed during loading. I have tried a complete windows reset and new drivers of every variety, I would say that my hard drive is corrupt, but chrome works on it just fine, and so do all my programs including steam, just not my games themselves, they open, then disk usage jumps right to 100% and then they crash while loading, often with no crash reports or logs left behind. Please help, Ive invested a lot of time into this system and would really like it to function.

Update 1: I just installed fortnite on ssd (the launcher was still on HDD though), and it loaded a bit further and faster but then crashed anyway
