Hi, I'm new here.

I'm considering upgrading my current 8 gb of ram to 16, and i'm not quite sure about ram frequency.

Specs (without the ram)

Mobo: MSI Z97 PC Mate

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590

GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX970 AMP! Extreme Core Edition 4GB

PSU: Cooler Master G500 - 500W

OS: Windows 10 Pro

So I've searched quite a bit but could not find a reliable source. I want to buy this ram: G.Skill Ares Blue Series 16 Go (2 x 8 Go) DDR3 2400 MHz CL11 (https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c11d-16gab) , and i was wondering if, by enabling XMP in bios, I would actually be able to use it at 2400Mhz, because while on MSI website it is stated that my motherboard support up to 3000Mhz (OC, meaning with XMP if my understanding is correct), I've found on Intel website under Memory Types the following: DDR3-1333/1600, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.5V.

So there it is, my question being will I be able to use my ram at 2400Mhz or not.

PS: Sorry for my english, not native.

you can use that at 2400mhz. It is higher than what Intel says, that's why it's considered an overclock

But I wont buy that memory because it seems expensive. A 4590 will never be fast enough to benefit from faster memory
