So I posted about trying to figure this out before with the dominator 4000mhz ram and I never did get it to work at 4000mhz. Xmp, higher voltage....nothing mattered I even put the looset timings possible and it will not pass 3600. It acts like its 3200 or 3400. So I am curious if this is a common occurance for ram to be mislabeled or to not meet its spec? How much money am I likely losing considering it runs at a lower clock but alot lower timings as well. Amazon.....

4000 MHz is pretty aggressive, and puts quite a bit of stress on the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) within the CPU.

It's not guaranteed that kind of speed will work on just any CPU -- even though Intel IMC's are known to be very robust.

That, the motherboard also plays a part -- how the XMP profiles are read, and how the board manages all the secondary 'Auto' timings, etc.

Did you check the label(s) on the RAM modules?

Do they say 4000 MHz?

They do and I have a 6850k as well as an rog rampage v edition 10. I mean 3458mhz is not exactly bad lol.... just not 4000

that will also depend on your CPU if you can go further or not.

Ahh..

From what I know, anything 3000+ MHz  on X99 will require the CPU BCLK to run at 125 MHz instead of the stock 100 MHz.

4000 MHz *might* require it to go a little above 125, in that case, CPU stability will be a limiting factor.

125 eh? Idk if I can do that With 125 I can get 3500
