Low FPS in Games - Compared to A System with the Same Specs.

K i a r a

Hey,

I shall Try to go into more detail in this post.

So - I had a 1060, I had to Give it back to my Brother, Due to his 1080 crashing - I did not play games with the 1060, I was in school. So never got to check my FPS..

So, now.

This is my build.

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600. (stock clock atm)

GPU - 1050ti Mini

RAM - 16gb DDR4

So, the problem I am having is a lot lower FPS in games, then what Others are having.

I'm am not crazy, for 300+ FPS in games, I can do with 60fps, with V-Sync.

But if I test a game Like GTA5, I just went back to it, and I get around 60FPS Tops - to Low 40s. On The Lowest possible settings on GTA. [Besides 1080 x 1920]

Also, I am a Noob to MSi Afterburner, So I have this Huge Monitor... but at least you can see it.

NOTE: DONT READ THE CHAT - THERE WAS SOME BAD STUFF GOING ON.

My Test - Flying a Helicopter.

I got about 45-55 FPS while flying, [I am horrible at it +  there was a guy killing everyone so it was hard]

YouTube Same Spec PC - Flying a Helicopter.

80 - 90FPS. Almost double what I get..

MY PC - Driving

This wasnt as bad, But There was A kid killing people, So it dropped my frames some.

48-55 FPS

Also, In his Test. He tested blowing up cars near him on screen.

He was also geting about 59 Lowest to around 70-80 FPS....

I can tell you if I tried this id be around like 30/40 FPS.

Yea,

So i know its not really showing much, due to things happening Differently in the server or what not.

But im not sure what I am doing wrong.

He is on MAX setting for GTA5 and still geting 30 - 40FPS higher then me, While I am on the lowest posible settings, And getting much below 60fps.

Plus, nothing is running in the background besides MSi + 1 chrome tab. + Drivers are up to date.

EDIT: One last thing, He also tested Just Cause 3, And was getting 70Fps on maxish settings... I bought the game not to long ago, Returned it bc I couldnt even get pass the load screen,,, was getting like 10FPS...

I could buy it agian to test it.

Any help?

That is completely normal. Some games will run at higher framerates because it is so much easier for your GPU to run. 40-60 fps in GTA 5 on a 1050ti does not sound bad at all. Its actually pretty good depending on what settings you are running at.

With Max settings while im playing on the lowest possible?

If that's true sometimes background software and applications can interfere. Like if you have an application open in the background draining system resources it might account for the drop in framerate. Another explanation is that if you have a gsync monitory you might be running at a lower refresh rate as gsync runs at a lower refresh rate but ensures there is now distortions. Beyond that, I would have no idea why.

Gsync will run at the rate of the graphics card's output...unless the graphics card is putting out MORE frames than the monitor can handle. So it either runs as fast as the graphics card can handle, or as fast as the monitor can handle. Gsync itself is not limiting anything.

I'm an IT professional and unless you mean reboot the computer, I have no idea what this means.

Didn't see that, I think I have your fix. Change from windowed mode to full screen. Also, set it to 1920x1080 as you may be having to scale your game's rendering.

I also said, I had it in full screen 1920x1080, But to recorded the screen capture of my Settings, I had to put it in windowed, But all the tests I did were in 1920x1080.

Try scanning for malware yet? If so, what did you use?

You can use process explorer to see whats eating up all your resources.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

Whens the last time you dusted your PC?

Ehh, Do you suggest any good Malware finder apps? I hate windows Defender.

I had nothing open tho, beside 1 chrome tab, and MSi afterbruner.

And I do it alot, probs 1 time a month.
