RAM Compatibility

I've been scrolling around Newegg looking for RAM and I see that some RAM claim to be completely compatible with Intel Platform and other to say the AMD version. Does this really matter because I don't want to buy something that is incompatible.

First gen Ryzen processors do have some issues with ram compatibility, but other than that, just make sure the motherboard supports the ram speeds.

I am planning to get an Asrock x370 Pro4, Ryzen 1600, and Geil Evo Potenza. Are there any problems known?

The motherboard I want only supports up to 2666 mhz and I want to save as much as possible.
