Hello i have been dealing with this problem for months now, and cant find any solution to it. My PC is running very poorly with high input lag, lower fps then before and CPU usage 90%-100% in all games. My CPU temperatures are fine (30-45 degrees).

Games are pretty much unplayable because of the lag

Things i have tried -

Re seating parts and CPU Fan

Doing a full re install of windows (this indicates to me that it is probably a hardware issue)

Tried different power outlets

Tried different power board

Clean the CPU and other part sockets and dusted PC

Tried it with a different hard drive

Tried it in another house

Specs -

GPU - GTX 1060 6gb

CPU - Intel i5 7600K

Ram - 16GB DDR4

Mobo - Z270

Any help or suggestions of any kind would be really appreciated because I am so frustrated with this.

I have tired linux?

You can run some benchmark/games in linux and see if the problem persist. I have found my laptop rarely fan ramp on my laptop compare to windows. Window seems like to randomly use cpu when just watching a video.

See if the problems persist on linux, it could be just windows drivers.

What type of RAM do you have? Also what speed does it show in CPUz for memory speed? If you can, screenshot CPUz.

I have 2 8GB sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws, dont have CPUz but can download it if you would like.

Your RAM looks fine. Do you have Windows on power saving mode? Considering you have tried a different PSU. So have you checked what uses 100% of the CPU during gaming with Task Manager?

Haven’t tried a different PSU, only a different hard drive. Don’t have windows on power saving mode and generally it’s the game that puts it to 100%

I think the ram is in single channel mode. Could you take a photo of how you inserted your ram? @Halbo

It is in single channel mode because one of the ram slots is broken on the motherboard, however this problem outdates that one so I know that is unrelated and not a factor.

Do you have 4 slots, or 2 slots on your board?

hi.
