Scared To Flash Bios

Hello, so recently whilst reapplying thermal paste I accidentally pulled the CPU out with the cooler (the thermal paste was like glue, the CPU was firmly attached to the cooler even though the latch on my mobo was pulled back). A few of the pins were bent and I started to freak out. Fortunately I managed to bend most back in shape; unfortunately, I broke a pin. I tried using the CPU anyways and it worked! Although, my DIMM slot 1 stopped functioning so I have to use 8gb of ram for now. Now here's the problem, I'm planning to buy the new R5 2600 but I am scared to flash my bios with the latest update. I feel that due to the broken pin, my CPU may cause the update to crash and as a result brick the motherboard. 

I really don't know, should I risk updating my bios? 

 

My CPU and motherboard: 

AMD R5 1600 @ 3.7Ghz

MSI B350m Gaming Pro Motherboard

Afaik AMD has these loaner kit, where they send a crappy CPU from AMD to Flash your Bios and once you are done, you send it back

To obtain the boot kit, please carefully follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the AMD online warranty claims page: https://support.amd.com/en-us/warranty/rma
  2. Fill in your full contact and product details (2nd Gen Ryzen Processor OPN number and serial number)
  3. In the Problem Description field enter "Boot kit Required" (without quotes)

I might just have to do that. But it would suck waiting an another week for it to arrive :(

Dont buy the 2600, get another 1600 instead. Performance difference between the two is quite small, but the price difference is noticeable

Go to a pc repair shop with your mobo and tell them to flash or let you flash

Depends but not too much, they use to charge you from 30 to 50 to configure a new pc (updating bios if need) so i expect around 30 euros
