Every time i try to play a game my computer decides to restart within 2 minutes.

When it hits 65-70 Celsius it instantly restarts without any warnings and the error logs do not tell much.

Here's an image of the CPU temps right before:

My specs are:

  • Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • Sabertooth z77 (BIOS version 2003, latest)
  • Intel i7 4790
  • 2x8GB RAM
  • Gainward GTX 680 Phantom - 4GB
  • KINGSTON SSD (120GB) boot drive

Check the thermal settings in your BIOS. I suspect they are set to throttle or turn off when hitting those numbers.

FWIW my CPU runs at half those temps. 61 seems quite high to me

the weird thing is that i disabled the safety feature in the BIOS, but the pc still restarted after 2 minutes of gaming.

It was just for testing purposes - i monitored it throughout the entire time to make sure it didn't get too high.

Could also be a failing power supply, can't supply enough juice under load...

who makes the PS?

Might be going bad...I'd borrow a new/better PS and test.

There's a nice thread in the Case and Power section that ranks power supplies...
