download 64 bit

 

x86 refers to a 32 bit version in which you wont be able to access all of your RAM.

32 bit cant use more than 3.2GB of ram, thats enough of a reason to pick 64

im going to install windows 8 and Im not sure which one to download.

should i get windows 8 64bit or the 86bit version?

and what are the pro's and con's to choose 64 or 86.

i7 4770k( No OC )

gtx 770

asus z87-pro

8gb 1600mhz ram

1tb seagate barracuda 7200rpm

you don't even have a choice in the matter, you need 64 bit

Yeah, it;s confusing. x86 does not mean 86-bit... 

 

x86 = 32bit

 

x64 = 64bit

 

It's already been said, but re-iteration is never a bad thing I guess.

Its like shooting yourself in the foot if you do use it as you know eventually you're going to upgrade to more than 3GB of RAM. It should only be made available as an option not as an or choice at this point. Not that windows is fully 64bit but...

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

My school, installs 32 bit om 64bit machines with 6 GBs of RAM and keeps it locked in 800 x 600
