Turning my refresh rate up

I have a Samsung SE330 27inch monitor. It runs at 60 hertz and I watched Linus's video on overclocking everything. I saw that you can turn the refresh rate up by creating a new custom resolution in Nvidia Graphics settings. Will it beak my monitor? I saw a video saying that it could break your monitor. I want to know if changing it to 65 hertz or even 70 would harm it. And does V-Sync correlate to my refresh rate?

I don't recommend going above the refresh rate your monitor is designed to run at, because it will most definitely lead to damage.

Yes it could possibly damage your monitor or just kill it. I would not recommend doing it with a monitor you don't want to lose.

I run my monitor at 75Hz, because my GPU provides way more than 60 frames in games. But my monitor is a pretty old crappy one so i’m not to bothered about it. It has the potential to damage your monitor more so than GPU’s and CPU’s. But some asus or acer monitors are overclock friendly. So if you do overclock it see how warm it gets before and after the overclock. If it gets really hot, it’s best not to OC. I’m not claiming it’s 100% there are risks even if it doesn’t get very hot. But honestly 10 frame OC is barely anything anyway it’s hard to notice even at 75Hz I cant tell the difference.
