Hey I watched an overview of the psyko audio labs headsets (I have youtube blocked for productivity reasons, but the channel is Synwyn, the title of the video is "Psyko Audio Labs 5.1 headphones + Coupon Code") and I was wondering if anybody here has any comments on them. They're a small Calgary based company - if they're good maybe Linus could throw them a bone?

Wow..what an innovative headset design. Speakers placement anywhere but near the ears. Next thing you know, they'll be placing them on the cable. Full of gimmicks imo.

thats the one where they have the speakers placed in tubes and pipe the sound into the earcup enclosure with varying lengths of tubes right?

 

my comment would be: ever talk into a large open pipe, or an empty roll of wrapping paper?

Seriously these headphones do give you positional awareness, sound accuracy is down the tube (pun intended). Music and movies dont sound good, games are ok but not worth the price tag. I bought the original set of these when they came out in 2011, They havent been that big of a hit from what i can tell. I returned mine after 15 days cause i for 200 i could get a pair of head phoens that sound awesome for movies and music and games but lack the true 5.1.

 

Concept is there, sound quality is not, but in their defense they were designed %100 for gamers, mostly 1st person shooters, not music

My Ad700 headphones were 100% designed for two ears. As a gamer I happen to have two ears. Success!

I don't have a problem with multidriver headsets - I have a problem with $200 multidriver headsets. Nothing that cheap is going to be good. IEMs with multiple drivers cost a lot more, and those don't even take into account placement for positional accuracy.
