Hey guys. I have been looking at the scythe mugen 5 and I was wondering if it will cover any of my ram slots or anything like that. I wanna make sure that if im getting an air cooler that its for sure going to fit.

Motherboard:ASUS ROG STRIX B250G GAMING LGA1151 DDR4 HDMI DVI M.2 Micro-ATX Motherboard

RAM:CORSAIR - VENGEANCE RGB Series 16GB (2PK 8GB) 3.0GHz DDR4 Desktop Memory with RGB Lighting - Black

CASE:CORSAIR CARBIDE SPEC-ALPHA CASE RED/BLACK (might get the omega corsair carbide with rgb lighting instead)

GPU: GTX 1060 XLR8 OC 3GB PNY

I don't think any motherboard could have DIMM slots close enough because of mandated clearance around CPU socket.

Mugen 5's fan sits literally above heatsink mounting space:

What will be my max temperatures if I were to get the sycthe mugen 5?

CPU:i7-7700k kaby lake 4.2 MGz

I also dont plan on oc’ing and might even dial down the volts a bit.

Mugen 5 is made to handle lot bigger heat load than that.

Again if that particular CPU has heatspreader badly installed with lots of toothpaste between it and CPU die, then even bigger cooler won't make it run cool.

Good to know that it will make it cool.

I can finally be sure and start gaming again, and yeah the i7-7700k doesnt have the best thermal compound between it but its alright.

So you are 100% that I wont be needing a new cooler anytime soon once I get the mugen?

These are with 130W TDP CPU:

https://www.nikktech.com/main/articles/pc-hardware/cpu-cooling/cpu-air-coolers/7565-scythe-mugen-5-cpu-cooler-review?showall=&start=5

Using single fan and with one of the lowest noise levels.

Using higher speed fan (like in many others) or adding second fan would increase cooling power.

Rev. B (SCMG-5100 instead of 5000) comes with AM4 compatible mounting kit if considering that in future.

Though by showing Scythe proof of purchase of  SCMG-5000 and AM4 motherboard or Ryzen CPU they'll send free AM4 mounting parts.

It's slightly worse than the kings of air cooling. If you're not oc'ing, it's overkill.

Oh, if the mugen 5 is a bit overkill should I get the cryorig h7 instead? And if so is it free from clearance issues?

The H7 completely clears the dimm slots.

If you don't plan to oc much want to save some money, a cheaper cooler would make sense.

Where are you shopping / located?

Can you be more specific? Where are you located? Are you limited to Newegg and Amazon or are you open to other stores? They both ship internationally.

Hard to tell for sure since stock volts will vary but probably ~70c at load.

Would that be the max that it will hit or do you think it might go higher?

Load implies max.
