Can someone please explain JBOD systems simply? 

 

I would like to know:

What is it?

What's it used for?

How does one set it up?

What are the advantages?

What are its disadvantages?

Is it different to RAID?

Jbod depends on what your talking about, but normally is a big pool of drives, and you fill up one, then the next.

 

For raid cards, it means just passing the drive to a os with no raid.

 

Good for mixed sizes drive and when you don't care about performance. Not really used in large arrays.

 

Do you just want to know info or are you trying to build something.
