90's pc build (i know)

Ashleyyyy

i want to use some parts i have to make a pc that can play older games i have that don't play nice with Windows 10...

parts i have:

an old pc already assembled that's missing a PSU

it has:

Pentium MMX

16mb ram

another old pc:

Pentium 3 500mhz

256mb ram

Geforce 6200 AGP 256MB

spare:

Pentium 2 (speed unknown)

a bunch of old ram

mobo for the Pentium 2

what would be optimal to use to play Need for Speed games up to and including Underground...?

i can get other parts from a thrift store nearby, they literally have bins of old gpu's and stuff.

i also don't know what OS to run on it. i want to use Windows 98, but i haven't been able to find a legit copy of it used..

underground you want something like a 2ghz pentium 4 to get decent results.

the earlier nfs games will run well on the pentium 3 provided you're using a 16bit os like 95-98

the box for Underground says 700mhz so.. i could look for an early P4 system i guess.

thats a minimum needed just to barely run the game and your pentium 3 isn't even that. so when i say 2ghz p4 i mean it lol

yeah i know :P

i'm gonna look for a P4 system. i actually have one but it doesn't do anything when you push the power button. i think it's the mobo because i've tried it with a known good PSU and it still doesn't do anything...
