Hello,

my specs are 6700k

z270 motherboard evga

evga gtx 1080 ti

32 gb of ram corsair.

So ive been having trouble with ffxv and Witcher 3. For some odd reason I have to lower my GPU clock speed by 50 in order to play the games. Or they crash or freeze

*I use to be able to play the games with no trouble.*

no error messages happen.

And sometimes even tho I have lowered the GPU clock speed it still crashes or freezes

i have uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything. Kept getting the same problem.

I tried different updates and the problem still happens.

Can anyone give me some advice? I thought about upgrading to a new CPU and new SSD. Before this problem started to happen. I thought well it could be a good opportunity to know if the problem follows my new build.

Let me know what you guys think.

Have you tried running any benchmarks or stress tests on the GPU to see if it crashes then? Does your GPU work ok in other games? Have you tried re-installing the drivers for the GPU? Do you have another card you can swap into your computer and see if that one does the same ting? Lastly, you could try a clean install of windows and see if that helps. It could be the PSU is dying and not supplying enough power when the GPU boosts up to speed, or the card itself could be dying, or even possibly the motherboard is having issues.

You need to change the post sub-forum to troubleshooting and not build logs. You are more likely to get more replies if you do.

If you can try what earthworm has suggested, and like he said this seems to be either an issue with gpu or psu.

Also how long have you have this build?

Have you made any major changes recently? if so what?

What Power supply are you using? wattage ? make/model?

Also is this problem occurring on all your games or just the ones you have mentioned?
