eGPU Question

External GPU's are awesome for boosting the graphical power of your laptops etc, however the price of them can run quite high,
What I want to know is, will a HDMI to Thunderbolt 3 (Plug GPU straight into Laptop) connector work just the same,
If I was to build a Cheap housing for the GPU including a PSU (obviously), and then plug in one of my 1060's I have laying around, will it work just the same or is there something built into the eGPU to achieve this,

There is a possible way to achieve it. Some pcie to tb3 or m.2 will work fine. Check this

i never had an experience with a laptop but i heard if you connect those external gpu's to a mac book pro it's gonna work great .
