Hello my dudes!

Just today I received my new GTX 1070 ti and replaced my old GTX 970, I was expecting at least a 30-40 point boost in FPS but that wasn’t the case. My gtx 970 didn’t perform bad, normally getting me 60 FPS on medium setting but I wanted to play GW2 on max setting and really be able to enjoy the beauty of the game. I have a few friends that told me they float around 130fps with a gtx 1070, I’m getting 20-30 FPS in high and about 40-50 on medium... lower than my 970.

I updated my drivers and went into my 3D setting and changed the settings to maximum performance.

any other thoughts? Am I bottleneckong this GPU with my CPU? Attached is a photo of my PC specs!

Edit: Forgot to include that I have my CPU overclocked to 4.0ghz right now, I can OC to 4.3ghz but prefer to not push it to hard to expand the life. Also, when playing GW2 my load usage sits around 50% for both my cpu and gpu.

Any and all help/info is much appreciated!

My friend has a i7-8700.

Oh yeah, that's a large leap. Generation gap aside, your 4770K still should be doing more with a 1070 Ti.

I doubt it's bottle-necking, however you could always try overclocking, if you havent done so already.

Primary PC: OMEN 880-160se / 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700K / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080ti 11GB / 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD / BU ICTO UMA Z370 Motherboard / 750 W Platinum efficiency power supply.

Secondary PC: HP Pheonix 860-010 / 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700 / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB / 128GB SSD + 2TB HDD / 500 W power supply.

What percentage is your CPU at while playing games? If the CPU is at 100%, and the GPU is hovering under that, then it is a bottleneck, but this is generally in games that are CPU intensive, so the 4770K and 1070Ti should be fine together.

When playing GW2 my load usage sits around 50% for both my cpu and gpu.

You should use a founders edition or get a different one because it might be a bad defected B.S. GPU

I’ve always used EVGA cards and have never had issues so I decided to go with another one over a FE one. Really hoping it isn’t a defective card, it’s be another two weeks between getting it sent back and getting a new one.

Attached is a photo of my cpu and gpu usage in game with max settings. Currently getting around 26 fps... :(

It's a threaded 4 core the 4770k right?  You need to look at per-core usage.  A 53% load overall says to me maybe a couple of cores are peaking at 100% from time to time.  You're not using any affinity settings (locking the process to just a few cores) in your games are you?

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I have all my cores unpacked so I shouldn't be locking anything out.

I attached a screen shot of my ingame settings as well.
