I want to find out what people do with computer parts that they upgrade or is just old for the use you want them for.

  • do you throw old parts away
  • do you do you use them on other rigs
  • give them away to friend or family
  • throw them in the bin

thanks for you time looking at this tread and leaving a commnet

I upgraded to a mini-ITX Prodigy build just before christmas. I kept my PSU and storage drives, and my GTX 470 graphics card which still is no reason to upgrade looking at the available options.

I then cannibalised a weaker PSU from an even older computer, and will buy a bunch of HDDs and turn my old Core2Duo system into a storage spaces home server.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I hoard computer parts :) any kind I can get my hands on. If its good it goes on Craigslist, if it isn't it will be prepped for gold and other materials to be removed and sold.

I'll take any free parts I can get, if I can build a finished computer I'll give it away or sell it depending who gets it and the specs.

If I can do something new with it I'll keep it, my latest build was a single core hackintosh.

Will work for electronic components and parts

I've got about 3 old pc's Atlon 64 939, P4, Athlon Socket A, loads of ddr2 256mb strips, couple of old ddr1 ide laptops and boxes of parts like AMD K6-2 and super socket main board. I am going to make a retro build :) I'm thinking of using an AMD sempron for an Andriod build, just to try it out. If it works well, i'll plug it into a TV for netflix ect
