Custom loop for transport?

Go to solution Solved by Mick Naughty,

Don’t see the point in getting another complete kit, just to hardline it for just a cpu.

Wont make any diffence how it’s made. You will only have leaks if you made a crappy loop or your case has so much flex in it that it could cause one. Highly doubt any of that would occur.

The only real stress would be the pci brackets themselves, even then I wouldn’t even bother thinking about any issues.

Hi there,

I'm considering building a custom water-cooling loop; my only issue - how dangerous/risky is it to transport them? I would like to cool the CPU only. I will have to move my PC weekly for a 5 - 10 minute car drive. Please let me know if hard tubing or soft tubing is better (or not at all).

I'm currently using an AiO (240mm) and would like to use the EKWB EK-KIT 240 S. This is not for better temps, but I want to gain the experience of building such a loop.

Thanks,

Sean

I heard you will have to drain and refill the loop every time you move it. Highly unrecommended.

Or you can spend a few hundred dollars and several days packing everything:

Well then don't do liquid cooling, or if you really need to then use an AIO, or if you really really need to then use soft tubing.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take your advice and stick with my AiO for now. Maybe I will make a desk PC in a few months xD.

I have a custom loop with soft tubing that I haul around to lan parties. It cools the gpu and cpu, and I don't have any issues. Everything is bolted down tight, the tubing is nice and secure, , and I get no issues other than when I get to the lan party, I gotta sometimes bleed a couple of bubbles out of the blocks again by tilting the case if it wasn't sitting upright.
