Dark souls 3 what should i upgrade

Tamelane

What piece of hardware do i need to upgrade for Dark souls 3 to be playable?

I set minimum settings, 800x600 resolution and its totaly unplayable.

It's like watching a slide show.

I have athlon II x2 215, 4 gb ddr2 800mhz, hd 6570 1 gb ddr3

I don't need high fps, just fluent gameplay...

Do i need just something like athlon x3 450 or phenom II x4 955?11.png.74e4a1a436accda96fd402d726c78d01.png

You need to upgrade basically everything, except maybe the RAM.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Based on the screenshots, your CPU is constantly at high load. I would update that first.

I would recommend going with the phenom once you know that your motherboard and cooler support it. (its a 125 watt chip.)

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Uhh, i suggest you simply save some money and go buy a decent pc entirely. Upgrading that thing piece by piece just not worth it unless you can get second hand at dirt cheap.

Damn, maybe you're right, but the cpu's are ~30$ so it wouldn't hurt that much...

What Board do you have?
With such specs I can't recommend a new CPU because I'd expect a shitty board that would blow up if you put a Phenom II 955 in the socket and tried gaming on it.

The Graphics card is also nothing to game with and more for Office...

And what Power Supply do you have?

Pls make a Picture of the Label if you don't know the Maker or Model.

seems OK.

pls look what the Maker and Model of the unit is.

400W is useless as to say that your car is read. Tells me nothing about the PSU that is of importance.

Especially since there are some companys that put whatever they want onto their units...

Yep and what I feared came true.

The first thing you have to do is to replace the PSU with something that won't blow up if you look at it.

Codegen is pretty bad, not the worst, but nothing I'd trust a PC with.

Well, at least the rating seems somewhat honest, but with 16A on +12V or 192W, you won't come far. And even then we don't know how the voltages look.

BUT:

192W + 160W + 9,2W + 10W = 371W at best.

So this unit is Peak rated -> shit.

So you need to replace it...

So what you need is:
a) PSU

b) CPU

c) Graphics card

Where do you live?

A phenom II X4 is a good start, with a NEW decent quality PSU (be quiet Pure Power 10, 400W or System Power 9 if you want to save a bit more money, if you live in Europe. Otherwise a Cooler Master Master Watt without anything behind it besides the wattage is also an OKish unit, if available for cheap).

The Graphics card should also be replaced with a more modern one.

Ok, cool. I think I'll get 750 ti, that should be enough.
Thanks for help!!

If I get r9 270x or 280x, how much Watt should the power supply then have?

The question isn't about Wattage, that is (almost) irrelevant.

The question is what models are available.

Because Wattage is Quantity, that isn't really the Problem.

The Problem is the Quality.

What is available in your region, where do you live? Can you link to a shop pls?

If you live in Europe a 400W be quiet System Power 9 is a good and cheap choice, a bit better (and more expensive) is the Pure Power 10 also 400W and up.

And remember:

NEVER buy a PSU used!

Because the prices are rather high for used parts so that the potential problems don't outweight the savings.
