well motherboards don't affect performance, but it does depend on a few things like if they want to use Aura sync for lighting then the crosshair wall if you want to use mystic get the M7, The truth is it really won't matter much for OC it would depend more on the chip he got. 

Ex frequent user here, still check in here occasionally. I stopped being a weeb in 2018 lol
