CPU Memory Support

I have ordered intel i7 8700K processor. It says it supports RAM of 2666MHz. So can I use RAM with more than that capacity?

Please tell me the processor - RAM compatability of which MHz memory I can buy

You can use faster ram if you buy a Z370 chipset motherboard as that is required to support it. Compatibility varies depending on the specific module, but anything recent should be ok. How fast you go depends on your use case and budget. I wouldn't pay lots extra for super fast ram, but up to around 3200 if pricing isn't much more than slower is a sweet spot.

 

Where possible aim to add modules in pairs so you get dual channel operation.

On Intel platforms, RAM speed does not influence day-to-day usage much, so spending extra for higher speeds is not worth it.

For official memory support table, check your manufacturer's support page, they have list of tested memories, that will work with that motherboard model.
