Driver problem: MIDI Keyboard won't work

Go to solution Solved by Zeblade,

If finally managed to make it work. The conflict with the drivers was solved only by formating the whole system. This problem has no solutions on the internet and couldn't even be fixed by me and my technician cousin working together lol. Formating was the only way. My pc hasn't been formated for a while now, and I had installed a lot of programs throughout the years. Maybe some important system assets had been modified not allowing the MIDI controller to work properly.

So that's it, just format it. Thank you guys for the help. I really appreciate it. =)

Hello!

I have recently bought my first MIDI controller keyboard, an Elesis VI61. I have been trying to make it work on my main computer (windows 8.1) but it simply won't be recognized. When I plug it in, all the lights on it turn on normally, and the computer detects a dispositive, but on the device manager it appear as "others dispositives" and has an exclamation symbol, saying that "no drivers for the dispositive are installed and there are no compatible drivers for it". Also, whenever I try using any software that uses MIDI the controller doesn't work whatsoever. Even the updater for the device's firmware doesn't detect it.

Please note that this MIDI keyboard is class-compliant, which means it doesn't need a specific driver to work, although other standard windows drivers are still required.

What I have tried so far:

-Changing cables

-Changing USB port

-Restarting the PC

-Unplugging other devices

-Uninstalling the keyboard at the device manager and then re-plugging it in

-Using the keyboard on another computer (IT WORKED PERFECTLY)

-Downloading everything from the manufacturer's website

-contacting the manufacturer (didn't get a response)

I have tried updating the other drivers of the computer by both the Dell support website and by using the Driver Booster 3 (a driver updater software), but some drivers apparently won't update properly, giving error messages.

When I managed to make it work on the other computer, I simply plugged it on the USB port and it was recognized and started functioning immediately. I then went to the device management and checked the "driver details" of the device and this is what is shown:

I then went to my main computer and turns out I have all of those drivers on my system32 folder. It makes no sense to me.

Providing that the keyboard lights up, shows as a dispositive on my pc and can even work properly on another machine, I can only conclude that my computer is the source of the problem. Since I had trouble updating some of the drivers, there must be one or more main windows driver not working as it should.

Do you guy know what could be the cause of the problem? Did you have some similar issue in the past? if so how did you solve it? What might be keeping me from updating those drivers that show the error messages? What are good driver updaters that I can use?

My main computer is a Dell Inspiron 7520 runing windows 8.1 (a gaming laptop from 2013)

The computer it worked on was a Samsung np300e5l-kf1br (standard Samsung browser machine)

Thank you for the patiece. I would really appreciate any help.

This is almost definetly a driver issue, If it lights up, then power is being sent which means that the driver itself isn't recognizing or is not receiving any information, try using Driver updating software for the best results, I personally use driver Booster 5 as it's a very good software and free, but there are more around so go ahead and look for more if this one doesn't suite your needs: www.iobit.com/en/index.php?from=mobile

Hey, thank you. I'm trying to tweak my Windows Update and experimenting with various drivers updaters. It seems that the WIndows Update is having trouble installing some of the recomended files though.

You have midi out and midi in in the correct spots right because that matters?

If it's a compatibility issue, maybe try a generic midi interface cable as that'll probably get around the issue.
