So recently just bought a Ryzen 7 1700 to swap out my Ryzen 3 1200. Upon installing then flipping the power switch in the PSU on I noticed there was no light on the GPU, indicating there was no power in my PC. Even trying to turn my PC on through the big button on the front, nothing. I reinstalled the Ryzen 3 and everything powered up normally. I have a couple theories on why it's not working, one being I got it off ebay. The second being something wrong with my motherboard (MSI B350M Gaming Pro). If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated.

If it was the mother board then shouldn't the old 1200 also not work?

Update the BIOs to the latest edition and try again, making sure you have everything correctly installed.  If that still doesn't work you might have a bad CPU.

1700 should be supported out of the box on all AMD A/B/X3XX series boards and even on the newer 4 series. Sounds like you got ripped off on a bad CPU to me.

thats what im thinking, thanks for the info man

I would recommend contacting the seller to see about a refund since the CPU is dead. If they fail to respond, make sure to file a claim with Ebay to try and get a refund.
