Posted December 27, 2013 So yeah, I've been wondering if I should buy this motherboard:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007MHC6K6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AZCEI3EMXUPTH It is good for my immediate use, but someday I will probably want to add a second graphics card (GTX 770) in Sli.So. Will the second generation PCI-express be able to handle that?
Posted December 27, 2013 Cards can barely saturate pci-e 2.0 x8. That motherboard isn't sli ready though. Posted December 27, 2013 Author So yeah, I've pretty much just copied the mid-range pc from Linus' "Gaming PC Buyer's Guide - Holiday Season 2013". My budget is around 1100$.And the ones saying: "You'll be fine", could you please explain why?
 And the ones saying: "You'll be fine", could you please explain why? Basically the new cards haven't yet maxed out the bandwidth (speed of data going in and out of the card through the slot) that the PCIe 2.0 slot offers and are far away from maxing out 3.0. Even if some have you won't see much of a performance hit between either. Basically PCIe 3.0 was made to future proof things a little. iSwitched from Windows to Linux for 30 days - Ducky Shine 3 Tenkeyless Unboxing - Trixel Wallpapers - Project Lights Off
 Posted December 27, 2013 Author So, the 2.0 still has enough bandwidth for GTX 770s? Oh, and could you tell me how to know how much bandwidth a card requires? Thank you

Thank you Depends on the card but pcie 2.0 x8 or more is recommended for something like the 770. Posted December 29, 2013 yeah, thats fine. but if its for a new build, why not go Haswell? Because Hanswell's got hot as hell, if you OC the electrical curve is not linear etc etc etc. @OP it really depends on the card, you should be fine but like Wooden said that board is not SLI ready.
