Hi all,

i have an Asrock deskmini 110 with an i7 7700k, and 16gb ram. The cpu has intel integrated 630 graphics but I’m looking to add an egpu via the m.2 slot.

i am looking to do this using this:

http://m.dx.com/p/pci-e-v9-5-exp-gdc-m-2-m-key-version-laptop-video-card-docking-station-463295?tc=GBP&ta=GB&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlorIzf7Q2wIVx7DtCh0D-QzWEAQYBiABEgIiYPD_BwE&stiff=2

so the psu to the dock would be 220w maximum with 8p or 150w with DC.

i would then consider making a custom case to house the egpu and the Asrock deskmini internals, but would still have 2 power supplies, one to the deakmini internals and 1 to the now internal  egpu.

so what options can people recommend for small gpu’s (as close to or under 6 inches long so I only have to expand the case in terms of width) and that requires either less than 150w or 220w and with still reasonably good performance? Happy to spend up to about £250 for the gpu.

i use it mainly for basic gaming like csgo, but would quite like to be able to put the graphics specs up without dropping to 20-30fps :)

Thanks all

My 1050TI runs almost all games 50-70fps on max settings while running 2 1080p monitors. I've seen small form factor 1050TIs, and they rock games like CSGO which are meant to be light anyway. You could probably find a small form factor 1060 6GB as well

I see a lot on the nvidia side (not saying thats bad) but if you wanted to go red you could fit a RX 550 or 560 in there and you wouldn't need to attach a 6 pin pci-e connector and it would do well in 1080p gaming.

Have a nice day:)

how many PCIe lanes does this transmit ?

if it's only 1 lane i'd look for a different adapter ... something like this one:

PCI-e%204X%20to%20NGFF.jpg

that way you can use the maximum amount of lanes the m.2 in your acer box provides - and since you want to build a custom case any way you might be able to mount the graphics card right in that slot without a riser cable

So the exp gdc gpu dock I have been looking at is 4x, The deskmini has the capacity of 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes.

The deskmini only has a 120W power supply (cable) so I'd have to power any gpu externally (unless I can just upgrade the power supply cable?) but then the only internal connectors are:

- 1 x CPU_Fan_1 Connector (4-Pin)
- 2 x USB 2.0 Headers
- 1 x CPU_Fan_2 Connector (5-Pin)
- 1 x Internal Speaker Header (4-Pin)
- 1 x Front Panel Header
- 1 x Chassis Intrusion (2-Pin)

- 2 x sata3 headers

Also how much wattage can the above adapter you have pictured take as I have heard about issues with certain amounts of watts through the connectors but I guess with the spec of graphics card I'm looking at that probably isn't an issue?

Those 2 graphics cards look good, I can't find any comparisons or benchmarks for the Zotac mini 1060 6GB. I guess it will be better than the EVGA 1050TI but how much by as I don't want to expand the size of the deskmini by much but it could still be worth it if the spec of the Zotac mini is much better.

Also from looking at the RX cards, so if I were to put the MSI Radeon 4 GB RX 560 AERO I wouldn't need a 6 pin pci-e connector? Also I can't seem to find a benchmark for this particular card to help me compare?

Thanks again all
