Hello! I've been wanting to get some lights strips for inside my pc case (i don't have any lights except a few power lights) I was thinking maybe some RGB ones but fixed colours would be fine too, anyone got any you could recommend? Price wise I don't want to be spending too much money on it (£30 max) also I don't have any spare molex connectors because my pc has so many fans there are none spare, so I need one with a different connector really. my PSU is a Corsair vs650 incase you wanted to know what power cables I'm working with here, thanks again. ?

The only solution I see is buying regular RGD strips that run on normal household power outlets. You can get those strip for little to no money on sites like Amazon and eBay.

The downside to this approach would be that you need to run an additional cable from your wall soket to your PC.

Ok, that might me the only way, also I've seen some ones that seem to have them like power bricks, not sure if that's what you mean? I'll have another look, thanks :)

Ok I've had a look, would it be safe to get a molex splitter so I can have 2 molex cables from 1 molex cable? Or is that a bad idea? If so then what you said is the only way to go. Thanks :)

I don't see why that wouldn't work. However, make sure you stay within your PSU's output. Something would have to give in that case...

I prefer to go with a dedicated RGB light controller. Something like this: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cooling-rgb-accessories/rgb-led-controller/

You could also check if your motherboard has an RGB header.

You could also get those USB ones too, then just loop the usb out the back of the case and into your motherboard rear IO.

Janky AF but will work.

Ok, I think my pc motherboard has RGB headers (it's a Asus, but a very old one) I'll have to check properly before I buy anything though, but what are the RGB headers for? Sorry I'm a bit of a noob when I comes to stuff like this lol, never done it before.

They are used to power and control RGB LED strips. You can use the AURA lighting control software to create and apply various customized lighting themes.

The header is 12 V DC if I can remember correctly :-)

Oh yeah... Haha, just realised it's exactly like the ones I have at the bottom of the motherboard, in that case no I don't have any, might have to get the molex splitter or a usb.

Some RGB lights are designed to be connected to USB headers on your motherboard, then controlled with software. Obviously, they are more expensive than the previously suggested solutions but they look much neater :)

For example, the ones from CableMod popped into my mind:

Looking at the CableMod site you will see that there is a kit for RGB lighting. The thing that looks like a power brick is actually the LED controller.

https://cablemod.com/product/cablemod-widebeam-foam-rgb-led-kit-30cm/

Here is the installation guide. In this case it is not software controlled and does not use the USB headers on your motherboard. Other than power it is completely self contained.

You have also other brands though :)

Haha yeah better be careful :D the last month I got a new gpu, and I was playing a game and suddenly the pc shut off, so I clicked the button to turn it back on and BANG!!! My PSU blew up, what caused it to blow? The person I had got the pc off had been in the PSU and forgot to plug the fan back in so it over heated and blew up, got a new psu and luckily nothing else got damaged with it. My pc may have a old motherboard and ram, but it does what I want it to do just fine so I'm happy with it :) ive had this pc for years and would be devastated if It got destroyed. It was devastating enough when my old windows xp pc broke about 5 years ago. All I did was play Minecraft and angry birds on it :( dunno what caused it, it kept saying windows shut down unxepectedly and will reboot, but when it got to 0 seconds it would freeze and never respond, dunno why.

The PSU is arguably the most important part of a PC. Everyone here (me included) advices to NEVER cheap out on the PSU since that piece of hardware can really bring down your whole system. You were lucky that the damage was limited to only your power supply itself, but it could have been worse.

There exist a very usefull PSU tier list that orders PSUs according to their decency. When you are looking for your next PSU, you should have look there to see if it will be a trustworthy model or not:

I'm afraid that you won't be able to find (front) panels for that case anymore, since it's taken out of production for quite some time already.

Your best bet would be to contact Cooler Master themselves. They have replacements parts for their products that you might be able to buy.
