i cant answer that, that depends on you. i've been using amd 4gb cards for awhile now with no real complaints. It depends on your needs, and games you play, fps and resolution you want to play in.  Idk how nvidia cards work, but i know amd the 4gb and 8gb both have the same clock speeds fir xfx models baically. 4 has been sufficient for me, but i will be upgrading when new cards come out. You could go cheap now and get something new when they come out get something new. Right now is a weird time to buy a gpu as new cards are on the horzion which will make current gpu's cheaper, but we dont know what the new gpu's specs will be if they will be a big increase in whats out now.

I am trying to build my first pc, and I am first buying a prebuilt and upgrading it, I already am puting the i7 8700k and a evga 600w in it, but what would be a good graphics card for my build?

im programming and doing some gaming with it

prebuilt im getting: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074HBYNF4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

o_O you wanna buy a prebuilt and change the motherboard, CPU, powersupply to something else? that doesn't make any sense..

^^ what he said. you will need a new mobo too. for the price of this pre built you can buy a 370 mobo and unlocked 8700 k, then the price of what you wanted to put into this pre built, add the rest you'd need.

would it be better to build a pc from the ground up then? I dont have much experience with full building

and if i was to build one what would be good parts for it?

considering 599 for that HP, and 300 for a 8700 and a new mobo of around 100 or more, this system right here would be slightly better for about what youd build, and would be great for gaming. obvisouly add a little more for a 8700

you could easily knock it down to under $1000 and with a 8700 if you needed to.

Just so you know, that's a blank list. You need the link from the upper-middle of the page with the random letters/numbers to link to the actual build.

Current Network Layout:

Current Build Log/PC:

Storage Server Setup:

Prior Build Log/PC:
